Moray Maulers Golden Oldies Rugby Team
After over 10 years without a Vets team in Moray, the Moray Maulers formed in 2012 with Ex players
from all 3 senior teams in the Moray area getting together to play matches. The team played it’s first match in
February 2013 v Highland Bald Eagles, a carbon copy of the first ever Moray match in 1923. They then went on to
play 2 further fixtures before playing in the 5th Scottish Golden Oldies festival in Inverness.
Golden Oldies rugby, epitomised in the motto of Fun, Friendship and Fraternity is the central
theme of every Golden Oldies match or Festival. The match is played with U19 scrum laws, no lifting in the line-outs
and coloured shorts can be worn to identify players who can’t be tackled.
Moray Maulers Golden Oldies Rugby plan to play a maximum of 5 or 6 matches every year and generally
try to play around the time of the 6 Nations Championships and Golden Oldies festivals.
