 Moray’s S1/2 squad travelled to Aberdeen’s Woodside Park on a glorious Sunday, and came away with a 15-20 victory.
Both sides scored five tries each, but Rory Millar’s boot made the difference with a 100% conversion kick success rate.
The home team settled quickly into their routine hitting the visitors 22 repeatedly and scored an early try, but Moray were not to be out done.
Moray’s tight head front row, Ronan Walker, finished off Moray’s first serious attack, when they entered the Wanderers five metre territory, and Walker received a short pass and crossed the line, with Millar adding the extra point.
 The red and white hoops still looked sluggish, and following a home defeat against the Wanderers at the start of March, their trip south east on the A96 looked as if there was a repeat on the cards, with the hosts taking full advantage attacking down the left wing.
Eventually Wanderers pressure paid off with a second try under the posts, but the conversion kick hit the post and rebounded!
So, the first twenty minute period had passed, with the score at 6-4 to the hosts.
 The break and team talk produced a sparkling second period from Moray.
They quickly hit top gear with scrum half George Hurst relishing the increased pressure of the opposing No 9, and broke free moving up the field, and passing to an inform flanker Ryan Robertshaw, who crossed the try line to give the lead back to Moray, which was extended by Millar’s conversion.
Moray with an inspired Robertshaw who tackling anything that moved, created more pressure, with another try being narrowly missed close to the host’s line.
Then came the best try of the match.
A pressurising kick into Aberdeen territory was followed up by a strong tackle by Moray’s Number eight, Ewan Ball. As the ball came loose Robertshaw pounced onto the loose ball and scored Moray’s third try, with Millar slotting over the conversion.
From being 6-4 down, Moray were now 6-12 ahead and the only blot on this excellent twenty minutes of play was a late try by Aberdeen to reduce the deficit to 9-12 at the end of the second period.
Aberdeen were now the team applying pressure from being behind and scored two quick unconverted tries early in the third period, to regain the lead 15-12.
 But, on this day, Moray was not to be denied, and their recent good away form was to continue.
The honourary ‘Captain for the day’ Josh Chapman, took his opportunity to score a brace of tries typifying his strong running and dogged ball retrieving nature, displayed whilst he has played for Moray.
 Chapman’s final scores for the Club, plus Millar’s exemplary kicking helped ensure a Moray S1/2 victory by 15-23.

Although the season is at an end for most of the Morriston Playing Field’s rugby squad’s S1/2 still play on. Next Saturday, they will take part in a 7s event at Ellon.
